In a climate where some countries are reportedly anxious about Donald Trump’s victory in the recent US presidential election, India stands confident, with key officials foreseeing a bright future for bilateral ties. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and political strategist Anshuman Mishra have expressed optimism that the renewed leadership could usher in a “golden era” for US-India relations.

At the Aditya Birla 25th Silver Jubilee Scholarship Program in Mumbai, Jaishankar remarked on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ability to foster strong relationships with multiple US Presidents, from Barack Obama to Joe Biden, and now with Trump again. Jaishankar emphasized that this adaptability ensures continuity in the diplomatic relationship, regardless of leadership changes. "Many countries are nervous about the US today, but let’s be honest—we are not one of them," he stated.

Anshuman Mishra, an international banker and political strategist, echoed this sentiment, highlighting Trump’s appreciation for India. Speaking with India Today’s News Director Rahul Kanwal, Mishra shared that Trump, who spent election night at his Mar-a-Lago residence with close friends and advisors like Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, and UFC President Dana White, is planning to visit India next year. This prospective visit underscores Trump’s commitment to nurturing the US-India alliance, which Mishra believes could be pivotal in the coming years.

Mishra pointed out that Trump views India as a critical ally, distancing himself from any inclination to pivot toward China. However, he did caution that challenges could arise in trade relations, particularly regarding tariffs. As both leaders express mutual admiration and desire for collaboration, there may still be economic hurdles to address.

PM Modi was among the first leaders to congratulate Trump on his election win, with both agreeing to prioritize peace and development in the global arena. In a tweet, Modi described his conversation with Trump as "great" and looked forward to working together in defense, technology, and other sectors.

With Trump’s upcoming visit and Modi’s diplomatic acumen, India and the US seem prepared for a renewed chapter, strengthening their partnership to tackle global challenges while enhancing economic and strategic cooperation.
