Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Vijitha Herath clarified his party’s stance on the Easter Sunday attack investigation, reaffirming their commitment to a thorough inquiry. Responding to a question regarding a recent statement by former MP Udaya Gammanpila, who claimed the reports on the Easter attack would soon be made public, Herath stated:
"Before we came to power, we pledged to launch a clear and transparent investigation into the Easter attack. That process has already begun, and I assure you that, based on this investigation, legal action will be taken against those responsible. What we promised then, we are fulfilling now."
He also dismissed criticisms from political opponents, comparing them to children seeking attention by making noise. "Some individuals, defeated in politics, act out for attention like little kids smashing toys. We don't need to worry about them."
Herath emphasized that the government’s approach is driven by responsibility, not political agendas. "We will continue to take appropriate actions based on proper investigations. These reports are not for political gain but for justice. The investigations will be completed soon, and the public will see the results."
This statement highlights the government's commitment to addressing the Easter attack with due diligence, ensuring that the findings are based on facts and accountability rather than political pressure.
