Former Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has responded to allegations from the National People’s Force (NPP) regarding alleged profiteering from fuel sales during his tenure. Speaking at a public meeting in Matara, Wijesekera stated that the recent fuel price revision disproves the opposition’s accusations.
Comparison with Current Leadership
Wijesekera argued that if the claims of profiting from fuel sales were valid, the current Energy Minister, Anura Dissanayake, would also be implicated under similar circumstances. He expressed gratitude to the government for understanding the truth about fuel transactions and underscored that the public can now distinguish between facts and opposition-driven falsehoods.
Emphasis on Transparency
Highlighting the transparency of fuel sales during his term, Wijesekera dismissed criticisms from the NPP and other groups as baseless. He reaffirmed the integrity of the process and his commitment to serving the public interest.
