The Sri Lanka Institute of
Directors (SLID) has appointed Anitra Perera as its new Chief Executive Officer
(CEO), effective September 2024. This significant decision marks a progressive
step for the institute, as Perera brings her expertise in education,
leadership, and strategic consulting to a pivotal role at a time of growth and
transformation.
With over 15 years of experience, Anitra Perera has made a name for herself as an "edupreneur" and a forward-thinking leader in the education sector. Her achievements include spearheading digital transformation efforts and contributing to strategic governance initiatives across Sri Lanka and beyond.
Achievements in Education and Strategic Consulting
Perera’s legacy includes her transformative leadership at Alethea Group of Schools, where she launched Sri Lanka’s first “Smart School” in 2018, redefining the standard for digital education. Recognized with the “Education Leadership Award of the Year” in 2022 at the CEO Sri Lanka Awards, her efforts have inspired a new approach to education in the country.
Internationally, Perera has been celebrated as an emerging leader, appearing on Cosmopolitan’s “35 Under 35” list in 2020 and receiving the title of “Edupreneur of the Year” at the 2019 International Schools Awards in India. Her work extends to higher education institutions in Singapore, Malaysia, and China, where she has served as a non-executive director, enriching her strategic insights into global trends.
