The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ level advisory for multi-day boats in the East-Central Bay of Bengal deep sea areas, warning of heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas.
According to the advisory, a low-pressure area is expected to form over the East-Central Bay of Bengal and the adjacent North Andaman Sea tomorrow, October 21. This weather system is likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a depression by October 23.
The department has cautioned that temporarily very strong winds ranging from 70 to 80 kmph, accompanied by heavy rainfall and rough seas, are expected over the affected sea areas during this period.
The Meteorology Department has urged naval and fishing communities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions while engaging in activities in the specified sea areas to ensure safety.
This advisory comes as weather patterns in the region remain unstable, with the potential for sudden intensification of weather systems, posing risks to those operating in these deep-sea areas.
