National People’s Power (NPP) leader and presidential candidate MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake has claimed that covert discussions are taking place between supporters of President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa. According to Dissanayake, these talks involve second-tier members of both political groups and aim to hinder the NPP’s progress in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Dissanayake alleged that, despite apparent political rivalry, behind-the-scenes negotiations are focused on forming a collaboration to challenge the NPP’s growing momentum. He cited statements from these discussions suggesting a desire to unite against the NPP.

Speaking at a rally in Homagama, Dissanayake expressed confidence in the NPP's position, dismissing the alleged efforts as too late to impede their progress. He reiterated the party’s focus on advancing its agenda and maintaining public support ahead of the election.
