The Cabinet has approved the
implementation of recommendations from the Presidential Expert Committee,
chaired by Udaya R. Seneviratne, to address salary disparities among public
servants. Effective January 1, 2025, basic salaries for public sector employees
will see significant increases, ranging from 24% for lower ranks to over 50%
for professional grades.
Salary Revisions by Role
The approved salary increments are as follows:
- Office Assistant Grades: Rs. 5,450 to Rs. 13,980
- Drivers: Rs. 6,960 to Rs. 16,340
- Prosperity Development Officers/Agricultural Research and Production Assistants: Rs. 8,340 to Rs. 15,685
- Assistant Managers: Rs. 10,140 to Rs. 17,550
- Development Officers: Rs. 12,710 to Rs. 25,150
- Public Health Inspectors/Family Health Nurses: Rs. 12,885 to Rs. 25,275
- Radiologists/Pharmacists: Rs. 13,280 to Rs. 25,720
- Nursing Officers: Rs. 13,725 to Rs. 26,165
- Principals: Rs. 23,425 to Rs. 39,595
- Teacher Service: Rs. 17,480 to Rs. 38,020
- Police Officers: Rs. 10,740 to Rs. 23,685
- Village Officer Service: Rs. 11,340 to Rs. 23,575
- Administrative Service: Rs. 28,885
- Deputy Directors/Deputy Commissioners: Rs. 43,865
- Divisional Secretaries/Directors/Commissioners/Senior Assistant Secretaries: Rs. 57,545
