According to the country's leading national paper, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who led Bangladesh for 15 years, and her sister have taken a military helicopter to India.

Reuters reports that Ms. Hasina is taking "safe shelter" away from her official residence amid reports of it being stormed by protesters.

On Sunday, violent clashes in the capital resulted in the deaths of at least 95 people, including 14 police officers, according to local news sources. Hundreds more were injured in the unrest.

The situation remains highly volatile as protests continue to demand Ms. Hasina's resignation, following months of escalating tensions and violence.
