Surendra Wasantha Perera, more famously known as Club Wasantha, was a well-known figure in Sri Lanka, recognized for his entrepreneurial ventures and active involvement in the local entertainment and lifestyle sectors. He was regarded as a prominent business owner with interests in various commercial enterprises, including nightlife and leisure facilities. His nickname, "Club Wasantha," highlights his significant presence in the nightlife scene, where he was both celebrated and respected. Wasantha was known for his dynamic personality and his efforts to innovate within his business domains, often leading to successful establishments that were popular among locals and tourists alike.


Club Wasantha, was tragically killed in a shooting incident that occurred during the grand opening of a tattoo studio in Athurugiriya, Sri Lanka. The event not only resulted in Wasantha's death but also claimed the life of another individual and caused injuries to several attendees, including the popular singer K. Sujeewa.

The attack was executed by assailants who arrived at the scene in a white car and were armed with T56 assault rifles. This violent incident has caused significant concern and sorrow in the community, reflecting the severity and boldness of the assault.

Following the shooting, the police have made substantial progress in their investigation. Six suspects have been arrested in connection to the assassination, including the owner of the tattoo studio where the event took place. The police have successfully recovered the white car used during the attack, which was found abandoned in Koratota, Nawagamuwa. Additionally, they have seized a van in the Bulathsinhala area, which is believed to have been used by the suspects after they abandoned the car.

The investigation continues as authorities work diligently to apprehend all those involved and uncover the full circumstances surrounding this heinous crime. The motive behind the assassination is still under investigation, but early suspicions suggest it might be linked to Club Wasantha's business activities, indicating potential business-related conflicts or rivalries.
