The Colombo High Court has scheduled today to consider the bail plea of former Member of Parliament Hirunika Premachandra, who is currently serving a prison sentence with hard labor.
Accordingly, the bail request will be heard on the upcoming fifteenth.
The Attorney General has submitted written statements opposing the application today.
Following a lengthy trial related to the kidnapping of a young man, the Colombo High Court sentenced her to three years of rigorous imprisonment.
Challenging this decision, her lawyers have filed an appeal with the Court of Appeal.
Consequently, this bail request has been submitted to the High Court.
