Emphasizing the importance of such interactions, Handunnetti pointed out that engaging in debates among political parties is crucial to uphold the quality and transparency of national politics.
While the NPP acknowledges and accepts these debate invitations, Handunnetti emphasized the party's particular interest in arranging a face-off between the leaders and economic council members of the NPP and SJB, especially in light of the upcoming Presidential Election.
Handunnetti urged the SJB to formalize the invitation by sending a written request for the debate. He asserted that it would be more impactful for potential Presidential Election candidates and their economic advisors to directly present their policies and visions to the public.
