H. Nandasena, SLPP Member of Parliament for the Anuradhapura District, Passes Away

H. Nandasena, a Member of Parliament representing the Anuradhapura District under the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) banner, passed away this morning (04) due to an unexpected illness. He was 69 years old.

Political Career

Nandasena began his political journey as a member of the Padaviya Pradeshiya Sabha, focusing on local governance and addressing community concerns. He later served on the North Central Provincial Council, where he held a ministerial position, overseeing various regional administrative responsibilities.

In May 2017, Nandasena’s ministerial duties were terminated following his participation in a Joint Opposition May Day rally, reflecting his active involvement in internal party politics.


Parliamentary Service

Nandasena was elected to Parliament during the 2020 parliamentary elections as a candidate for the Sri Lanka People’s Freedom Alliance in the Anuradhapura District. As a parliamentarian, he engaged in legislative discussions and worked to represent the interests of his constituents, contributing to policymaking and local development initiatives.
